Felix runs on an ancient Dell laptop running Windows 2000. It is connected to a CM11 X10 interface and a DS9490R USB 1-Wire interface. There are several DS1820 temperature sensors around the house. A cable runs out to the poolshed, where a 1-Wire hub connects numerous other devices<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-47\" src=\"https:\/\/www2.harwoodfamily.id.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/images_felix_topology.jpg\" border=\"0\" width=\"600\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.harwoodfamily.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/images_felix_topology.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.harwoodfamily.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/images_felix_topology-300x250.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It has been a constant battle to keep the 1-Wire cabling tidy. Finally, we have it beaten but only after several iterations. The final breakthrough was a large plastic junction box in the poolshed, which houses the hub, power supply, and other 1-Wire devices. It looks just great .. with the lid closed.<\/p>\n<p>The system is performing more and more automation tasks.
